May we welcome you all back to the warm bosom of university life. We expect your New Year has been a happy and fulfilled one thus far as you have been mercilessly chained to desks to regurgitate all that lovely knowledge you were presented with last year. If for some unbeknownst reason this is a situation you have not enjoyed then, fear not! Rocksoc is here to save you from the drudgery of life, to replace that grey with some red, blue, and maybe a nice bit of turqiose, and mostly, just to have a damn good time. So feast your eyes upon the events we have in store for you over the coming weeks...

Yes our monthly rock night returns in glorious fashion to wash away those January blues and to make you forget about the very concept of examinations. You all know the score by now, get yourselves down to The Subculture in the Merrion Centre for 9 o clock on Weds 27th of Jan with your £2 if you are a Rocksoc member, and £3 if not, then sit back and relax as our DJs fill your ears with lovely rock sounds. The first of January sees us attending a charity gig night at The Cockpit in town. Some of the best local bands shall be there to entertain you in exchange for nothing but the knowledge that they are earning money for those less worthy. Aren't they nice? Let us reward that niceness by coming out in force to see them work their musical ways. We shall be selling tickets in The Old Bar all day this week and next from 12-2, for a measly £5. Thie night itself will be starting at 7 and lasting until 2, with your very own Rocksoc DJs in between the bands. Said bands are as follows, and they really are very good:

Yes, our heavier club night returns magestically from the depths of winter, no more impervious to the cold than a Viking in longjohns. Be there to great it with your ears and metal metal faces. In a slight deviation from the norm we shall also be having a couple of tasty bands for you to enjoy beforehand as well. More details below:

----------------Alt Ball-------------------------------------
As the older members of the society will be able to tell you there is a fabled night in the Rocksoc calender. A night where beards are tamed, faces are prettified and food and drink are consumed in large quantities whilst giving the visual impression of being at the very height of sophistication. This is of course the Alt Ball, a ball for those of us in society who like to dress up nice, but not compromise on our musical tastes. This year this fabled event will be taking place on Saturday 13th of March at the Marriott Hotel off Boar lane in town, so please join us for a night of food (3 course meal), drink (both on the table and pruchaseable from our own private bar), entertainment (a DJ playing all of the Rock and Metal classics for you to dance the night away too, plus extra super secret entertainment, oooOOOOOooooo) and other societies (We open the night up to Anime, Sci-fi and Fantasy, Gothsoc, Punksoc, basically any alternative society, aren't we nice?).
As an added bonus this year we are giving a £10 discount on the first 50 tickets sold to you lovely Rocksocers. That means you will get the meal, entertainment and some free drink for a mere £25. Still not convinced? £25 a little too much to spend in one go? Then why not pay in installments, a crisp £10 note will secure your place at the ball while you save those extra pennies and give them us over the following weeks. Tickets go on sale from next week where we'll be selling them in the Old Bar from 12-2. After that you can either buy them at Rocksoc events or keep an eye out for some specific ticket selling days we'll be setting up.
