Gooood Morning Rock Soc!!! Well its actually afternoon, but bah, semantics...
Anyway, this is just a quick reminder of forthcoming events over the next few days to keep you entertained, delighted and drunk erm...we mean, responsibly sober. At least that’s what we’re telling the Union at any rate.
--- Tonight – Two Smokin’ Barrels at Subculture
--- Friday - Pub meet followed by the invasion of both F.U.E.L and Friday Flock
--- Saturday – Rock of Ages, including pre-drinks and a guidance down from the Old Bar.
---TWO SMOKIN’ BARRELS---
Tonight as said in the last newsletter “The Plan*” is to meet at Parkinson steps at 19:00 and then your loving and caring committee will lead you down to Carpe Diem for a free buffet that we have arranged, and then onto the club night a little later itself which starts at 21:00, but we’ll probably arrive a little bit later. Bring some cash though, it’s relatively cheap at both places fortunately with some beers at £1.25 and double Sailor Jerry’s and coke for £2.50! Get in! Entry for the club itself is £2 for members and £3 for non-members so remember to bring your card so that we know who’s who! Fortunately as well, we’ll be able to sign up non-members right there and then, so you can be eligible for discount at the door.
---FRIDAY MAYHEM---
On Friday we’ll be having our usual social shindig, which again will start properly around 20:30 in the upstairs room of the Packhorse pub on Woodhouse Lane (opposite the Civil Engineering building), it was great to see so many faces new and old there last week and we hope to see you all again. Furthermore, as with last week the night doesn’t end there, oh no...instead of gate-crashing our glorious leader’s house again we’ll be heading off into town to go clubbing at two of the best Friday night clubs that run in Leeds. Around 11pm ish we’ll be heading down to Friday Flock which is a goth, 80’s, industrial night in the Subculture to which ALL students will have free entry this Friday! It’s a good fun night, that doesn’t take itself too seriously, GothSoc are also going to be there so we can wave to them from across the bar. The other option available is the “official” RockSoc invasion of F.U.E.L at the Leeds Met bar with a room of rock and metal music on one side of their union, juxtaposed by another of punk/ska/indie music. This is only F.U.E.L’s second night of running, but from what we’ve heard they play a wide range of music and it’s cheap drinks.
---ROCK OF AGES ---
This Saturday we’ll be meeting up in the Old Bar (that’s the one beneath the union) for pre-drinks, socialising and of course preparation for the guided tour towards Rio’s...ok it’s not actually a guided tour, but we’ll be showing you the way there if you have no idea. We’ll be meeting up at around 19:30 around the bar, and be leaving about 21:15 to go see the bands that are on first. Entry is £4 with a Rock Soc card otherwise sadly it’s a fiver, so if you’ve not joined up to get the discount, then do so!
Anyway, that’s your lot for the moment. Have no fear though we’ll be writing another newsletter sometime next week when we’ve recovered from the debauchery of the next few days (not to mention finished our essays/reports/reviews...we actually do work you know...on occasion). Hopefully we’ll see loads of you over the next few days and we promise to do our best to remember all of your names when we’re slumped in a corner, beer in hand and attempting to headbang.
