Aloha RockSoc!
Just a couple of quick reminders about the next few events we have planned for you all, with more details to follow on some of them in a later newsletter. You’re lucky this time, as this newsletter is going to be short and sweet.
---METAL KETTLE---
Tomorrow night (that’s Wednesday for those who cannot remember what day it is), will be our very first Metal Kettle of the new semester, a whole evening dedicated to metal legends of years past and present. It’ll be down at the Subculture (where we were for RockSoc and Two Smokin’ Barrels), but for those who are still unsure it is on the far side of the Merrion Centre.
Doors will open at 9pm and it will be finishing in the wee hours of the morning, probably around 2am. Entry for society members will be but a paltry £2 whilst for non-members sadly it will be £3...unless they want to sign up then and there to take advantage of the discount.
If you are looking for places to go beforehand, we’d recommend Carpe Diem as its close by and relatively cheap drinks, or the Cuthbert Broderick in Millennium Square; you might even see some of the committee down there as well.
---WENDY HOUSE---
This Saturday it will be the first Wendy House (Goth/80’s/EBM night in the Union) of the new term. Wendy is absolutely crackin’ good fun and we highly recommend that you go and check it out, even if it is only this once! Don’t forget that you get RockSoc discount there if you flash your card, and even better it’ll be fancy dress, last year there was a guy dressed in a full Predator costume, so some of the competition is hard to out-do. We’ll be meeting up at 9pm in the Old Bar that evening for pre-drinks, before heading into the club itself, so if you’re feeling scared, or simply want a bit of a laugh, feel free to join us. After all the more the merrier!
---HALLOWEEN PARTY---
With Halloween looming so is the annual RockSoc, GothSoc and PunkSoc Halloween bash that we hold in the union. It’ll be held on Thursday 29th of October in Mine within the confines of the Union. It’ll be fancy dress and we’ll be throwing in several other surprises for you...just make sure you put it down in your diaries! It’s all paying on the door, so there’s no need to worry about buying a ticket.
---CLUB TRIP TO CORPORATION---
The destination of the club trip has finally been confirmed and the date set for the 7th of November. We’ll be heading down to Corporation in Sheffield for the evening (and morning...) for a night of rock, metal, and EBM as the place is massive with three rooms dedicated to each of those genres. Tickets will be on sale soon, and will probably cost around £3 for members and a bit more for non-members. Spaces are limited though, so make sure you sign up sooner rather than later!
Hopefully we’ll see loads of you out at Metal Kettle tomorrow night and Wendy House at the weekend, in either case have fun and make sure you don’t get up to anything we wouldn’t...take that last bit however you see fit.
