I just spent the day in the company of a folk rock guitarist, a violin playing sisters of mercy fan, and my stack of electronica. One of the results was the heaviest bit of battle metal I've even been in the same room as. We might take a few days and slow it down, at the moment about right is somewhere between 165 and 170 bpm (crotchets) at which point the semiquaver beat in the chorus is somewhere between 660 and 680 per minute, and I have a feeling my drum machine is struggling to keep up. I'm tempted to set it to 166.5bpm for shits, giggles and satanism. How we're going to tie it to anything else that has been written I don't yet know. What I am sure of is blast beats, pointy guitars and synth brass are a match forged in the fires of hell.
