We talk about this all the time anyway, but here's a thread so people can chat about what music they've got on.

Currently: Social Distortion - Don't Take Me For Granted

I've had my headphones attached to my head pretty much non-stop for the past couple of weeks, and listening to a lot of post grunge, rock stuff. At the moment I'm listening Social Distortion which is probably way more punk than I'm allowed in my position Sticking out tongue I think punks do the best love songs though, it's sad in a way you can dance to.

Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells II

Couldn't we just resurrect the old thread, or is that too harmful to some people's browsers, or something?

Does the old thread still exist? I thought a load of topics were wiped out in the site revamp?

Saxon - Let Me Feel Your Power

Need to get a ticket for their Sheffield gig, really hoping Iced Earth get confirmed for support (co-headliner would be better though like in Europe)

I have a playlist of songs I haven't listened to at all or barely, or stuff I haven't listened to in a while, which I have on shuffle quite often

I bought it as part of a 2-disc set with Tubular Bells III. I then also bought Pink Floyd's Meddle with it as part of the 2 for £10 deal at HMV; bargain, methinks Smiling

Now listening to Firewind's The Premonition which, oddly, my sister has been borrowing off me quite a lot lately (she mainly likes stuff like The Script or Fall Out Boy)

I have never heard of The Script.

Bowling for Soup - 1985 swiftly following Apocalyptica - Hall of the Mountain King. Shuffing playlists causes WEIRD combinations. I fear my battery will run out before I finish in the library though. Noo!

Heh. Going through a pre-76 Qup phase again....and some Deep Purple.
But mosty, Shortwave Set, Sparks and They Might Be Giants.

Not exactly 'rock', although the Sparks stuff has some killer guitars....

Mostly been listening to Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me by U2 as it's their only song that i like so i feel like i should make the most of it. Also it's the theme to Batman Forever so i can be forgiven for that as well.

Also Misery Business by Paramore as i genuinely enjoy it and it reminds me of Daryl as he hates them, i can imagine him entering a fit of rage when he hears it and this amuses me greatly.

Mostly, for obvious reasons, been going back through all the old Stooges recently. Other than that I've been listening to the preliminary mixes for an EP by a certain band known as Gentlemen's Monster Club. Keep your eyes and ears open people Eye-wink

Edith Piaf - Qu'as Tu Fait John.
Hell yeah. That track finished about the time I'd finished typing "Edith"
Then there were loads of tracks on shuffle I didn't feel like listening to, then
Tomahawk - Sir Yes Sir.
And that's still playing.

Edith Piaf? As in the actual Edith Piaf or some band of the same name? If the first then i'm curious to know how you got into that sort of music.

I can't actually remember how I first got into it - I'd liked Trenet for a while before that and it probably came from there. Haven't heard any Aznavour though, I'll need to have a listen.

Aznavour was Piafs sometime lover and wrote several of her songs as well as having a pretty successful singing career himself. . .

Massive Attack, I never get fed up of Massive Attack.

Also, earlier, The Jesus Lizard, who are fucking amazing.

Trying to get my hands on some Buddy Guy after seeing him on Jools Holland the other night and being reminded of how awesome he is.

Well I'll make sure to check that out; the original is probably one of my favourite Beatles songs.

I've noticed most of the best guitar tracks out there are by musicians whose playing is rooted in the blues or jazz; metal guitarists can be really fast and technical, but they've got nothing on Stevie Ray Vaughan, Freddie King, Django Reinhardt, Wes Montgomery, etc.
