About time someone other than Daryl posted an album review, methinks!
For those unfamiliar with Sahg, they are a Norwegian hard rock/doom metal supergroup featuring, among others, the guitarist from Audrey Horne and the bassist from Gorgoroth. As the title suggests, this is their second album.
And it's completely fucking righteous! Anyone with even the slightest passion forĀ 70s rock/metal (Sabbath, BOC, Rainbow, etc) needs this in their lives right NOW! Such is my liking for it, I've already played 2 tracks on my show in as many weeks; the world needs to know about this!
Opeth aside, this is the most diverse thing I've heard this year. Fast-paced rockers? Check. Acoustic, eastern-timged balladry? Check. Seismological stoner jams? Check. Epic doomy psychadelia? Check. Sahg take you in a time machine back to the late 60s/early 70s yet somehow seem to make the whole thing sound so up-to-date and relevant.
This is definitely getting an airing in the basement at our bonfire party
9.5/10
P.S. And it only cost me 7 quid in Hellraiser
