Fantastic boardgame (especially the 2210 version i have).

I miss playing this, i may have to invest in a Risk box set out here and then bribe/threaten/beg people to play it with me. The computer version just isn't the same as rolling dice and moving little men (or robots) around a map of the earth (or moon).

I suggest everyone plays this game at least once. Also if anyone is going to attempt to shoot me down by saying Axis & Allies is better, then know that i've never played it. And that also you HAVE to invite me to play it some time. Sticking out tongue

How DARE you compare the original version with the future ones?!

Risk cannot be compared.

Play Risk, Rule the World.

Risk is very much like Monopoly I find - in the sense that you sit down, start a game and before you know it you've been at it for 7 hours!

With 3 players, beer and Scuzz on the TV we could finish a game in 2.5 hours, playing Mission Card risk. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PLAY WORLD DOMINATION!!! With Mission Cards 4 or more players becomes very hard indeed, and i'm tempted but haven't had the chance to play Capital Risk rules.

Also futuristic Risk (ie RISK 2210AD) kicks ass, there is much more you can do in one turn, but your limited to 5 turns, this means a)the game doesn't go on for ever and b)the person with the most stuff at the end wins.

It's pretty much like Traditional Risk except that you have the opportunity to Nuke People!!!

As for the Facebook version i don't know, i haven't tried it, i downloaded a free version to my computer instead. I find that something is lacking when playing on a computer, clicking the"Roll dice" button just isn't the same as having the dice in your hand and praying to the DICE GODS (yes they exist) to give you a lucky roll. Plus moving little plastic Robots is more fun than just looking at little drawings.

Oh, and if anyone even thinks of mentioning Monopoly as a better game, or even a good game at all i will insert the car, the boot and the iron into said persons rectum.

I'll take that challenge. While I can't honestly compare it to Risk, as Risk is a game I have yet to get round to playing, Monopoly is a game that has brought me much joy over the years; so feel free attempt to insert little metal pieces wherever you like, idle threats shall not dissuade me from my opinion. Additionally though I do have to mention that as boardgames go Scrabble is generally my favourite, though I suppose that shows up my boring streak a little.

This is all very spur of the moment of course, but if people have got a lazy Friday coming up, I am totally down with the idea of them bringing board games to the pub. We've got tables. We've got a room. It almost makes sense.
