Brazil

Terry Gilliam's sense of humour wrapped round an Orwellian dystopia, and an amazingly accurate prediction of governmental IT projects, and US terror-paranoia.

I've seen that twice. Once in Fab (I think) and once in PR1, but never with sound! I think it would be easier to watch with sound Smiling

I really want to see it, and Twelve Monkeys as well.

I've heard Terry Gilliam wanted to direct the Harry Potter films; they probably would've been much better that way.

Brazil and 12 Monkeys are works of genius!  In fact, with the possible exception of the Brothers Grimm, he's not put foot wrong....

Well putting a foot wrong with brothers grimm is open to debate. I think he managed to do what he was paid to do very well, the problem was that he was doing something that he was paid to do rather than what he wanted to do; though one very good thing did come out of Brothers Grimm, Tideland, what a fucking awesome movie.

Hence the 'possibly'.  As a movie it was okay, but it was obvious that it wasn't a full blown 'gilliam' movie.  It was obvious that there were suits dictating what he could and couldn't do. Something's he's bitched about enormously since and indeed during the making of the movie.   Never has a lease been soobvious on a director....

I wonder what it would have been like had he had free reign....

 And yeah, TIdeland is magnificent!

Lived it.  A required movie on the tour bus.  INstead of a swear box, we had a 'Tap' box.   Anyone who uttered something tap-esque, had to stick a quid in.

That's pretty much how we afforded petrol....

Have you seen the hour or so of extras?

I've got Twelve Monkeys. Remind me at some point and I'll lend it to you.
