Thrashtastic.

This is a true example of Metallica getting back to their roots and back to basics, as opposed to churning out mindless pretentious, poorly constructed pop metal.

If you're looking for chugging riffs and white-hot solos, you're going to enjoy.

I'm shit at reviewing stuff. So just buy this motherfucker if you like good ol' thrash. It's ace

...and apparently it's been out most places since Wednesday. Some store in France thought it'd be a good idea to release it 2 days ahead of schedule, so everyone else followed suit, so I hear.

ok, here's my thoughts on the new album :

good - yes

excellent - no

my reasoning - too many rehashed riffs from older album, don't get me wrong tho, its the best album since the black album, and I do feel that they're in a no win situation, 'cause i'm not sure this is the type of music they want to play, but feel like they have too, and to that end if they play stuff like on reload st. anger etc they get slated for not being metal enough, were as they release this and they get slated for trying to relive past glories. I feel that is enough for now

For a group of men who wanted to make the 'missing link between and justice for all and the black album

this succeeds

It is thrashtastic

Plus its one of those albums where there is a little something for everyone.

AND its Metallica... so it doesnt sound like lars hitting a metal bridcage ala saint anger

or James yodelling as in load (of crap) and reload (of more crap)

And its 9.99

who wasnt raising eyebrows at that!

I've decided to buy it and listen to it lots. I know I initially slagged it off, but to be honest, the mood I'm in now, I don't care about originality, I'd like a nice new album to get into.

There was this new album and Kings of Leon's new album out at a similar time... so I went for the Kings of Leon option.

Used to love Metallica but not in a great rush to get the new stuff- Kings of Leon are much more interesting and original!

The album (Only By The Night) is gooooood Smiling

Kings of Leon have gone downhill tbh... in the past they were good, but that song which came out a year ago made me cringe >_<

I wouldn't know about this new album though ^^

Anyway, to metallica again: I think it's ok, quite an average album, which isn't a bad thing, though they did rip off the unforgiven in a track which wasn't the unforgiven III :s

I really liked the album! I felt it was a good mix of styles, from different stages in their musical careers.

It had the Progressiveness of '..And Justice' and the riffage of 'Load'

I really liked it... mind you, i also liked St Anger!
