I LIKE MEAT.
I felt this thread was starting to get a bit veggie heavy so thought I should balance it out a bit.

Just so people know, the meat option for the ball is looking like it will be: Starter: A smooth chicken liver parfait studded with wild mushrooms served with apricot chutney Main: Roasted rump of English lamb served with gratin potatoes and a minted jus Desert (veggies get the same): A warm pear and almond tart topped with vanilla ice cream

Ooh that sounds pretty interesting I hope the pear and almond tart is as nice as the apple pie we had2 years ago; a lot of people hated it, so I had about 5 portions __________________

If that's the meat option, then I will be veggie for the night. That is not meat that I eat! __________________

Fairly surprised no one has complained about us being served chicken liver yet. You have all exceeded my expectations, well done.

I'm personally just intrigued by it; I'll try anything once It always strikes me as odd when people are squeamish about certain kinds of meats but not others; it's all dead animals at the end of the day __________________

I simply don't like the taste of some meats, although there are some animals that I wouldn't eat through moral objection due to how the meat is produced. Chicken (as long as it's free range) and sheep production doesn't bother me too much, but I'm not a fan of lamb. __________________

Not liking the taste is fine, the point I'm making in this case is that I'd find it odd if people were squeamish about chicken liver; you eat the rest of the chicken, what's so bad about this particular part of it? I will not pass comment on the aparrent moral implications to eating meat; we'd be here all day! __________________

I guess given that the parts such as liver and kidneys were once used to filter waste may be off-putting to some! Also I think a lot of it is people don't think to buy and use it, it's much easier to pick up a pack of chicken breast at Asda than go to the butchers for all the bits. The taste is different as well I find, I'm not a fan of liver. My dad eats it all the time, I think he said he didn't like it when he was younger so maybe you grow into it! __________________

What about those of us who are omnivores? Should I create a thread called Both? Can we mix and match Tim? If not, I think I'll choose the veg menu ^^ __________________

No one has complained about the liver yet, though it may only be a matter of time. Good for you though, liver, very nutritious.

I can't help but thinking that chicken livers are quite small... Although I assume that as a nation we consume enough chicken for them to be in plentiful supply. __________________

There's nothing to complain about, offal is very good for you, and if you're going to kill an animal you shouldn't waste it! It's just the taste that I don't like, but that's my problem. __________________
