Billy Talent - quite punky and rather enjoyable. Although it didn't help that I confused them with Billy Idol and wondered why a) they didn't play any of the songs i knew b) why they looked so young for a band that has been around since the 80s and c) why the singer looks completely different.

The Used - Distinctly average. I'm not into them and am still not, but it was bearable. If their set was a colour, that colour would be beige. The singer however seemed to want to be kurt cobain with his current look.

Funeral for a Friend - Better than I thought they would be. I wouldn't rush out to buy any cds or merch but I don't think I will slate them any more. I am now neutral towards them.

Fall out boy - Utter shit. I went in with a reasonably open mind (after I heard one of their newer songs and thought it was ok) and they just made me close that mind again to stop the poison seeping in. Not only were they shit with their own stuff, they butchered two covers including one of Michael Jackson's better songs.

Lost Prophets - The singer seems to have remembered he is actually British again and not an American. This meant that they were surprisingly good. I actually enjoyed them for the first time since their breakthrough album.

NIN - awesome. best set of the festival. very intense, very pretty light show. I was gob smacked. They were even better than they were in 2005 when I saw them on their own, which is a hard thing to beat. Trent Reznor doesn't suit his current hair style though.

Smashing Pumpkins - Billy Corgan was really annoying and we left after 10 minutes. The bassist was quite fit though.

New Found Glory - Fun pop punk that was far better than Billy Corgan and his ego.

Gogol Bordello - Fantastic laugh. They really put energy into the performance and it paid off for them.

Jimmy Eat World - It would have been better if I had known more than 3 songs. They were a bit average otherwise.

Capdown - While I couldn't see them because I was sat down because my feet were killing me, they were fantastic as always.

The Bronx - I thought my piece of chewing gum in was chewing was more interesting.

Mad Caddies - They had the stage presence of a killer whale break dancing in the middle of a republican election rally. You took notice of them and even if you didn't really know the songs they were still enjoyable as much as a hardcore fan.

Ash - It was interesting to see them without Charlotte and they did manage to pull off and cope really well with the change in lineup. One of the new songs seems to show them heading towards Muse type stuff, while it was a bit of a curve ball, they did it really well.

Angles and Airwaves - it didn't really inspire much interest in them. It seemed to just be Tom DeLonge commenting on his previous band for the duration of the set with a number of wishy washy songs in between.

The Pigeon Detectives - Better than I thought they would be, but still not really my cup of tea.

Dinosaur Jr - Their sound is really good. They were enjoyable for the first 20 minutes until you got bored of that sound as all their songs are quite similar and they didn't interact with the audience that much. I would recommend them, but only if you listen to one or two songs in one listening.

Random Hand - The locals were on TOP form. They managed to pull the largest unsigned stage crowd I have seen and they kept the crowd too, getting a number of new fans in the process.

Red Hot Chili Peppers - dull and disappointing. They were a huge let down and barely did any of the decent songs, just vast numbers of the slow songs (made slower and longer) that nobody really knows and lots of dull filler solos on bass/guitar. Left after the first hour because of them being so boring.

I stayed for the whole of the Smashing Pumpkins because the olds songs they played were worth listening to but by the end of the hour and a half I realised they'd played about 20mins worth of stuff I'd enjoyed and the rest of the time consisted of me standing around talking to one of the guys I lived with in halls (who I randomly found in the middle of the crowd) about how disappointingly shit the new stuff was and how sick of prog-rock solos we were :/

I enjoyed the Chillis though, but that's probably because I only really know the latest albums (Californication onwards) and there was a great atmosphere in the crowd around me. I disagree about nobody knowing the songs they played, people were singing along to practically everything where I was, and that was behind the middle barrier so I wasn't exactly surrounded by die-hard fans at the front

I can't be arsed reviewing anyone else Sticking out tongue

The only stuff I saw worth a mention were NIN, Hadouken!, Gogol Bordello and The Horrors, all of whom were excellent. A huge amount of indie wank and indie wankers around though

Kings of Leon played a flawless set so they deserve a mention too. I was backstage for Hadouken which was pretty cool Laughing out loud They're always good live though

I didn't go on the Sunday so I can't really comment, was really ill and had to see my dad anyway.

I'd say I was jealous of you being back stage but I have this image of me standing around looking awkward that makes me feel fairly happy I wasn't, lol.

The bands I saw were:

Friday
Billy Talent - didn't really know anything, but was fun
The Used - not really interested, although I did hear one song that I generally dance to in clubs
Funeral For A Friend - weren't as bad as the last time I saw them, but still not a massive fan
Fall Out Boy - unlike as stated before, they were not utter shit, and were inoffensive and entertaining. Probably wouldn't buy the album though
Lostprophets - as usual I enjoyed them and did much dancing
Nine Inch Nails - very very very good. Not enough verys, but you get the point. Disappointed that not more people came to see them though as it was a little quiet where we were, but that's not the band's fault!
Smashing Pumpkins (briefly) - I don't really like them. A little miserable for me
New Found Glory - I missed them last time cos they pulled out so this was nice to see. Lots of bouncing and fun

Saturday
Gogol Bordello - great fun. I wore purple for the occasion
Jimmy Eat World - Also missed these previously as they pulled out. I liked the set, although I think I would have liked to see the longer one instead
Capdown - as ever they were great. Had lots of space at the back too for dancing
The Bronx - I didn't really like them, but they weren't awful
Mad Caddies - great set, danced despite having very sore back by this point
Ash - the loss of Charlotte didn't stop them and their new material is good too, will probably buy it

Sunday
Angels And Airwaves - as the last time I saw them, it's not awful, but not great either. Entertaining when no other bands on
Pigeon Detectives - I saw these at the summer ball when we randomly went into the tunnel club tent, so I went to see them again. Only knew one song but they were fun
Dinosaur Jr - disappointing for me. I thought the sound quality was terrible and it wasn't so much of a performance as them playing songs, which I don't like
Random Hand - great band. Only seen them once before, but will try and buy some of their stuff. Had a large crowd despite being on the unsigned stage which I think says something
Red Hot Chili Peppers - disappointing. Played their usual festival trick of barely acknowledging the audience and just playing songs with far too much faffing in between. I recommend seeing them on an arena tour as they were much better in Barcelona (not only did they talk to the audience, Flea even talked to us in Spanish so people could understand)

That was my music for the weekend. I had lots of fun Smiling It was great this year as the weather was lovely and warm and it didn't rain once. And I got a lovely tan. Although just on my arms which I guess looks a little silly...
