Since moving into my new flat, which is a comfy warm mid terrace and quaint. I have yet to install telly so it came as a bit of a shock to not have 'the box' for two weeks since i moved in until last night

having come home to stay with my folks i thought, why not watch some telly and relax How wrong was i...

Firstly there were news reports about big brother so wanting world news, i got, Americas news, Russian news, Spanish news, 2 minutes of depressing english knife crime news and then

Big brother Seriously. why does anyone actually care. If they want news on BB they'll watch BB dont poison my television tastebuds with banal poorly edited hammy badly strung 'reviews' on a group of people sitting in a house.

Oh and BB, next year how about a big brother tower block, or a big brother shuttle to the moon Or a BB cast just dumped in a volcano and the densest matter that survives wins?

As for the rest. Repeat repeat repeat A film that stank, and overall i spent most of it writing my art work out. The BBC should be ashamed, though its Olympic coverage was excellent (re-runs my dad taped as i had no telly at the time) which probably drained any good televison skills out of its departments.

I miss the days of simple cross channel rivalry

remember when channel five did movies every night at nine, horrors at one and blue after 2? BBC did good documentaries, not, who kiled Dando, or life with a homeless vagrant 3 I want to see lions eating wilderbeasts in HD Not every pore on a scabby tramps forehead ITV was once BBC's nemesis, now its its mirror image, it just puts sumthing similar on at a similar time. Dance for dance Pop for pop talent for talent

Overall i rate last nights telly a D-

Poor effort and badly researched and planned

And that's possibly the only shaft of light in an otherwise dark and turgid TV output.

Of course it IS (nominally) summer which is traditionally time for repeats and cheap to make crap.  Something about people going out in sunlight or something....never understood it, myself.

so

out of how many hours telly.

if we call it six till midnight

times that by five for the five terrestrial channels to make thirty.

So out of thirty hours of telly one hour (mock the week and buzzcocks) was good?

This is why I have Sky - TV is generally shit, but at least you have a bit more choice, as I have the documentary/factual channels. Plus I find the reality cop shows quite entertaining. Obviously not everyone can afford such "luxurious" TV, but you're more likely to find something at least half entertaining.

Or get Sky plus and be able to record programmes you like and watch them at your leisure.

Nah, I couldn't afford that, it's not often I can't make time for a TV show I want to watch

Have I Got News For You is excellent, Buzzcocks is great, Mock the Week is okay but somehow not as good as the others, but at least it fills the gap when HIGNFY is off air.

I tend not to watch tv but just check the BBC iplayer and 4OD for anything decent.

Mock the Week is good, but recently I've noticed that it's not so much  Mock The Week as Let's Spend half an hour with Frankie Boyle and some other guys who don't say much. Still funny, though.

I usually watch the first few weeks of X-Factor/Britain's Got Talent/American Idol, just for the first auditions, but even they're less funny than just plain sad now. The exception being that arrogant prat who was on last Saturday; I loved seeing the look on his face after giving what he classed a "brilliant" (it wasn't) performance, and being told it wasn't. Seriously, though; why do all of these thousands of people (most of which already have good jobs) all decide out of nowhere "You know what, I'm going to drop everything and become a pop singer"?

Oh, and BB is just plain shit. Thank God it's over.
