Hi,

My laptop has suddenly stopped connecting to the internet wirelessly. It works ok when plugged in via ethernet cable, so it's not the modem or internet connection (works wirelessly on housemate's laptop fine). I've got an internal wireless card which the computer is locating fine under the 'drivers' tab and says is working correctly. I've not had the laptop tooo long (about 2 years) Anybody got any ideas/ advice? It's kind of come at a bad time with essays and such due in v. soon...

Can anybody help? Please make answers as simple as possible, my computer knowledge is bordering on zero!

Cheers,

Kat

In what way does it not connect? Does it recognise the modem? Do any error messages pop up?

Yeah, it recognises there's the wireless router there and shows signal, but when i double click it to connect after a while i just get a message saying 'unable to connect to preferred wireless network, will keep trying'

Had a similar problem and al I had to do was switch off the router , switch it back on a restart the computer. Which is possibley a bit simplistic and patronising.

"have you switched it on and off again?"

hard wire to your router and check the configurations for your wireless (usually 192.168.2.1), and check the log to see why your computer is the only one ot accessing it.

Is it a specific connection, some or all of them?

That is: are you having problems only with Leeds Wireless or is it your home one, or both?
