Me and Rob both agree that the society should have a night where we have karaoke. It would be fun. Different. Everyone would be able to play a song they like. It would be optional. It could be made into a night and earn the society a little cash and as its different it may drag a few more people than the usual faces. Plus, we'd duet on Fear factorys Replica Sticking out tongue

that sounds more like a threat than a good thing.....

We had a discussion about this earlier in the year, there's another thread about it somewhere... Basically if we a) have time, b) find somewhere with a decent selection of tunes at a good price and c) find enough people willing to take part (as in sing, not just turn up) we might still go ahead with it

Speaking of that actually... I remember saying I'd get details for the band that did Rock-e-oke sessions where you get to be their singer. Well... I got them and promptly lost them again. However, the idea seems to have caught on because OK Karaoke (in town) had a night doing just that on the 28th (sorry, I'd have informed sooner, but I don't check that e-mail very often)

OK do all kinds of deals on groups and private booths and stuff, so if we do decide to it'd be an idea to check them out.

Here's something to look at: these guys do Download, Wacken, Bloodstock, etc as well as little club nights: -

If we're considering this seriously, these are probably the guys to talk to. It might turn out that they might be too expensive to book, but I'm sure they could at least offer plenty of advice on the matter.

I am personally fully in favour of the idea; it'll be a laugh. And I don't think we need to be worried about enough people wanting to do it; with enough alcohol, people will do anything Eye-wink

I've had an email from them actually and suggested it to the committee but I've never even been to the place so I wasn't sure what it's like. It puts me off that we'd only get a good deal on a student night so would be subjected to funky house in the main club, how big are the booths and do you think they'd have enough alternative songs to suit our needs?

On Alternative Karaoke's myspace, they have the complete list of all the songs they have; it's more than enough to keep us all happy Eye-wink

Apparently the booths at OK Karaoke can fit 50 people in them..? James' housemate works there so he'd probably know.

I'm surprised they have Norther and Ensiferum in there. They also have 3 of my fave Sonata Arctica songs! I agree with you that they probably are expensive to book

More news on OK Karaoke... Sunday nights are officially rock nights now, thus saving us from the terrors of mainstream music. They also have offers on Jagermeister and two for one cocktails that night.

Of course... you have to realise it had a picture of the guy from the libertines on there... so how 'rock' it really is could be a whole different thing. Just thought I'd keep you updated.

I will come to Karaoke, but it is safer for all if I don't actually sing....

Well I don't think anyone does karaoke because they think they sound good; it was invented in Japan after all.
