If you liked the first one then you'll probably like this. I personally think this one is better although David Hyde Pierce no longer voices Abe Sapien and the character sufferes because of it.

Bits of it are quite predictable but bits of it (such as the fight between Dr Klauss and Hellboy) are quite imaginative. The story is quite far fetched but thats cool because the main character is a demon. However there are some scenes that are simply fight scenes for the sake of having fight scenes. However if you can look past this the story isn't bad but it could do with being a bit deeper.

If you didn't like the first Hellboy i wouldn't bother with this one as it's far more bizarre than the first.

Far more bizarre, yes, but also far more coherent and a much more satisfying movie.  Oddly, it starts to veer away from te 'essence' of Hellboy with the whoe ove interest thing, but it does make for  good film, especially the Barry Manilow bit....hehe...

The market scenes are fantastic coming across as a cross between Neverwhere's 'Floating Market' and the Star Wars Cantina Scene.  My favourite bit is the bit featuring a guy with a cathedral for a head!

And Luke Goss was fantastic....which still rankles even after all these years... Eye-wink

I much preferred this to the first one Smiling

And James, how come it's taken you so long to review? Has it only just come out in Canada?

No i just haven't had a chance to see it until now. We hired it on video when we couldn't get Tropic Thunder.

Which reminds me...
