A fresher with sadly unsociable working hours

Hey Smiling I'm Natalie. I'm a fresher starting an English and Linguistics course and I'm staying at Clarence Dock. My hobbies are reading, swimming, rock climbing, creative writing, and getting hammered at a good rock night Sticking out tongue I'm buzzing about the fact that I've finally met people who share my music taste as none of my home friends do (I hate the fact that our "standard" night usually includes Revs, Tiger Tiger and some overpriced cocktail bar!), and I want to meet some more people so rock nights can be a regular thing.

Unfortunately I missed the Sunday night because I didn't have enough money which I was totally gutted about! And now the problem I've got is that I work until roughly 9.30pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday nights, which obviously cuts into a lot of the socials that you guys have organised Sad

I know I can always come a bit later, but I'd love to meet some people beforehand so I don't feel really out of place showing up late! My facebook should be in my signature if you want to add me Smiling

Hey! I'm doing an english course as well, I've just started my 2nd year.
I'll grab your facebook, and I'll get some of the others on the committee to do the same
Seriously though, don't worry about turning up late - people don't seem to let others feel out of place at Rock Soc, everyone gets swept up into a conversation or group insanely quickly!

Ahhh cool you doing single or joint honours?
Glad to hear everyone fits in quickly, seems like that sort of atmosphere anyway Smiling Hope I'll be able to go to one of the socials soon and see you guys there.

Hi! I'm Jade, saw your post and just thought I'd mention that I'm also a fresher and studying English Lit and Lang! So things in common Laughing out loud As well as the whole same taste in rock music as well!
I've just joined RockSoc but haven't been able to come along to any of the nights out yet but I'm reeeally keen to come along to the next thing as wanna meet some other rock-lovers =]
Used to go to this amazing alternative/rock club called Sound Circus back at home and miss the kinds of nights out I had there- so far at Uni I've been going out to the typical clubs and bars (like the ones you mentioned Natalie!) cos that's what all my flatmates enjoy but getting so tired having to pretend I enjoy chart music! xD
So definitely up for coming along to the next social and meeting some like-minded people Smiling

Hey Jade only just saw your reply! Sadly I haven't been able to come to a social yet Sad though I'm trying to change my shift on Friday so hopefully I'll be coming this friday! What modules are you doing in English?

I know this has been a ridiculously late reply but I have still shamefully been unable to work my way round this website properly and have only just seen your comment!
I haven't been able to make any of the socials yet either sadly, but am trying to get a ticket for this nottingham rock city trip that's coming up soon! It sounds pretty spectacular.. What about you? Have you managed to go along to anything yet?
I'm just doing the prose, reading and interpretation and language, text and context modules at the mo as it's first semester. I'm doing an elective in international politics too. How are you finding the course?
