I logged out trying to see if I logged back in if it would clear my cookie problem. Especially as I see no button to delete cookies that this board has set.

That's odd, I couldn't log in to the forum two days back. It logged me in, slapped my name on the current users list down the bottom of the page, then logged me out again. And using the SoC linux systems with firefox, it decided that my "Browser sent a request that this server could not understand. Size of request header file exceeds server limit" Then a line of code that just repeats itself several time. _________________ "In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man ... __________________

I'm not sure what is causing this. it seems to be either an intermittent problem with the board, or there is a problem with the browser. how are you logging in? are you logging in on the forum page or any of the other pages? phpbb has a known "problem" (ie i think it is stupid, but apparently it is by design) whereby if you log out without viewing all threads, the unvisited threads are marked as read when you log in, this is because the unread threads are kept in a session cookie, which means that when you log out or close your browser, the cookie is deleted automatically (unless you tick the permanent log in button). The "by design" bit is because the "new posts" is apparently supposed to be "new posts since you last visited". I am thinking of implementing a workaround but it will take a while. If you receive any error information can you let me know the EXACT wording of the error and the time and date it occurred (down to second if possible, minute should be enough though) so that I can investigate the error.

Thats basically what appears to be. I open the forum page and I see new posts have been posted. but clicking "read new posts since last visit" or even clicking a forum that has new posts in is enough to show no new posts. > Will change back to Opera just for reading the Rocksoc forum if I have to but I see no reason why firefox should do this.

Well, currently I'm on firefox, running in windows and there seem to be no problems. I can't be arse to move to a linux machine just now, but If I have problems in the future i'll try it. _________________ "In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man ... __________________

Sounds exactly like what was happening with mine a few weeks ago. I think it sorted itself out. That or I cleared all my browser history. It's not doing it any more in any case. __________________
