Take a classic sci-fi film plot
(the original being formed post war and reacting to a newly nuclear world, where aliens attempt to ensure their own survival and allow us to continue living, as long as we abandon our warlike ways)
Spew a lot (and i mean a LOT) of contrieved, popular bull about enviromental green issues down the viewers collective throats
and yes
you have yourself The day after tomorrow 2....with aliens
To further complicate this rag of a movie, Keanu Reeves tries (and fails) to act
Principal characters appear, disappear, re-appear and then die in no relation to plot, basic narrative structure, pacing or relevance
The small inter-racial child is there at the expense of Cuba Gooding or Mr Jackson, yet his 'mom' is white (explained through 'adoption' issues) yet reeks so highly of Hollywood tripe. A blatant attempt to tell the tale so that it has multi national and multi racial appeal.
Yet that is where the biggest faults lie
Why would enviromentalist aliens arrive in new yorks central park to tell the world we are killing the planet
CENTRAL PARK IS A NATURE RESERVE!!!
So...where is the Keanu Reeves led anti pollution, anti global warming brigade in Columbia where trees are knocked down from the rainforests at massive rates, or the middle east with its massive pollustion rates. Or japan, or smog riddled china
Presumably the giant alien globe cant land in dense smog
Pretentious, ill thought out, poorly scripted, ridiculous special effects in places, wooden acting (tbh WHAT acting?)
Its a quagmire of depressing multi million dollar crud

the millions of dolars spent COULD have been put to use planting trees in america or south america
Id rather of paid five pounds for that to be fair
Rather than being bludgeoned repeatedly with this dead dog of a film.
