Yep, here we go again. Time to take out the oldies, and get some fresh blood in. Well, most times, at least..

The committee positions are:
President - The boss, presides over the smooth running of the society.
Secretary - This person takes notes at all the meetings and helps the president.
Treasurer - This person handles the money in the society.
The top 3 positions (president, Secretary and Treasurer) are expected to attend as many RockSoc functions as is physically possible and are seen as officers to the union.

Publicity Secretary - This person is expected to organise publicity for the rocksoc events. This can mean designing posters and leaflets and liasing with the union and clubs to get the posters put up.
Social Secretary - This person organises the clubnights, DJ rotas and door rotas. They are also expected to attend as many events as possible.
Gig Co-ordinator - This person organises the gigs put on by the rocksoc and any trips to gigs. They also organise the bands for the clubnights.
3 x General Committee - These people are at the disposal of the other committee members and help out with the smooth running of events.
Webmaster - This person keeps the site and forum tidy, as well as improving it, when possible. And if The Powers That Be allow it.

If you feel someone you know will be suitable for one of these positions post their names below. You can only nominate and second one person for each position.

Elections will be held at the AGM, bound to happen about a month away from now, but we'll keep you updated.

It is possible but it's not something we'd really want to do, primarily because the committee is big enough already. I will point out however that General Committee are very welcome to work closely with someone with a defined role should they choose.

I've heard there's been talk of people wanting to nominate me for something. Given that I am not currently a member (or a student at all), am I actually allowed to stand for anything? I know I can't have an officer position as I will not be around for the changeover period.

Moreover, am I allowed to vote at the AGM? I should be up for it: I'll be in Leeds the entire week after the ball, and that's when the AGM is most likely to be, right?

As a non-member, you are not allowed to stand fr positions, or attend the AGM or any committee meetings.
As a non-student, if you were a member, you'd be allowed to turn up to the AGM, and accordig to the Constitution you seem to be allowed to propose and second candidates, stand and obtain non-officer positions and vote for positions, which has changed considerably since last year.

Well I'm not fussed about being on the committee but, seeing as I'll be around next year, I would like to vote so is it possible for me, as an at present non-student, to become a member before the AGM?

Looking at the constitution it looks like, as an alumni member, I could attend the AGM but not vote, that right?

This maybe me getting my strings crossed but i thought only those who are students are able to make nominations and second people. In the same way they are not able to vote or stand for a position.

Im just a bit worried that if this doesnt happen the union could technicallly void any results which are gained

From what I can see, you can only stand for a position, or propose or second a candidate if you are currently a student.

That is correct. However it doesn't depend on which institution to which you are a student, just that you are a student and are a member of the society.
