My favourite album of the year so far (sorry Lamb of God).

This is one of the strongest and most assured rock albums in recent memory. The overall sound isn't that different from the first album but it no longer feels that The Answer are merely stealing ideas from Led Zeppelin, Free, Thin Lizzy and Aerosmith (now they're stealing them from Pearl Jam and Soundgarden as well!) Seriously though, this kind of music isn't about originality; it's about having a good time and making good honest songs that are very fun and passionate. Nevertheless, despite all the classic influences, The Answer still manage to sound remarkably fresh and modern, with bundles of youthful energy and resolutely 21st century production values.

Highlights are definitely Cry Out (the best song Free never wrote) and Dead of the Night (which sounds like Status Quo possessed by Clutch).

Get it now Smiling

9/10

I'm trying to think which song from it to play on my show next week. It'll probably be Dead of the Night or the single On and On.

I haven't heard the full album, but I do like what I've heard of this band so far. It's good to hear some actual rock now and then.

I'm impressed that Kerrang! have them on the cover this week, as opposed to My Chemical Glass Houses at the Disco, or whatever the kids find "cool" these days.
