If you are not looking to go fossil digging, The Leeds University Rock Society is the society to join if you appreciate turning your speakers to the infamous '11' position and going crazy to distorted guitars and singers who have a larger ego than one stage can contain. Anything rock related can and usually does happen in this society, going from drunk men in cow print dresses playing air guitar thinking he's the next slash to deep, meaningful discussions on who would win if Green Day and Slayer got in a punch up (its quite close actually, Green Day once beat Slipknot in a brawl, and Slayer are... well... Slayer), to inventing new mad things to say at festivals such as "Achtung! Achtung! Spitfire!". If you want to join the madness, welcome on board.
Okay, enough ranting, what rock-related debauchery do we get up to? Well, first off, we organise trips to well known rock clubs across the country, such as Krazy House in Liverpool, Jillys in Manchester or Spiders in Hull. Back in Leeds we also stage our own club night where we play the music you want to hear, and we run a few gig nights every year too. Lastly, we've managed to get discounts of some of the best rock nights in Leeds, including the monthly union nights The Wendy House and Rock of Ages.
The only thing left to say really is that we hope to see you joining up soon, and feel free to nosey around the site (although some features you are going have to become a member to get at). If you have any suggestions or comments for the site, or any general inquiries about the society, just email us at info [at] leedsrocksoc [dot] co [dot] uk
